What makes the Alfa Romeo MiTo special
Alfa Romeo MiTo tuning: 135 hp or 170 hp
The MiTo 1.4 MultiAir with 135 hp and the Quadrifoglio Verde with 170 hp belong to the same 1.4 TB MultiAir family. The 170 hp version is fitted to the Quadrifoglio Verde and, since 2016, to the Veloce. With an Alfa MiTo tuning box the version matters: the 1.4 TB with 120, 135, 155 and 170 hp all work with the GAN GT, each with its own figures.
The 1.3 and 1.6 JTDM diesels and the 0.9 TwinAir are matched with the GAN GT as well. The 1.4 8V and 16V petrol engines and the 1.4 MultiAir with 105 hp, which has no turbocharger, get the GAN GA+. The MiTo, type 955, is a three-door hatchback on the Grande Punto platform, sold from 2008.

What does the GAN GT add to the MiTo 1.4 MultiAir with 135 hp and with 170 hp?
The 135 hp version goes from 135 hp and 206 Nm to 175 hp and 268 Nm in the catalogue. The Quadrifoglio Verde with 170 hp gains 36 hp. Both turbo engines come under the GAN GT, which is rated at up to 30% more power. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Alfa Romeo MiTo chiptuning or a tuning box: what stays untouched?
An ECU remap changes the factory software in the engine control unit, while a tuning box works differently. The GAN module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals, so the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
