Mitsubishi Chip Tuning
Up to 30% more power for your Mitsubishi
The Mitsubishi catalogue lists 249 engines (models: 36, generations: 50). For 20% of the engines, there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning modules; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Mitsubishi chip tuning without an ECU remap
The tuning module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Mitsubishi chip tuning: questions
How much does chiptuning add to a Mitsubishi L200 2.5 DI-D?
With the GAN GT, the L200 2.5 DI-D goes from 136 hp and 314 Nm to 176 hp and 402 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car. The same diesel also comes with 167 and 178 hp, so choose by output.
Which Pajero 3.2 DI-D versions are covered for towing?
The GAN GT covers the Pajero 3.2 DI-D at 160, 170, 190 and 200 hp. Choose by output and year, because the diesel was reworked to 200 hp in January 2009 and has 190 hp from September 2015.
Which module fits the Outlander and ASX diesels?
The Outlander has the 2.2 DI-D and the ASX the 1.8 DI-D and 2.2 DI-D, and all of them work with the GAN GT. The Volkswagen 2.0 DI-D with 140 hp in the earlier Outlander is a separate engine matched with the GAN GA+, so check it by code.
Tuning box or ECU remap for a DI-D diesel?
An ECU remap replaces the factory software in the engine control unit, which is a different method from a tuning box. The GAN module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals, so the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Mitsubishi warranty?
No. The module does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. We also give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or ECU remap: which should I choose?
An ECU remap permanently changes the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Mitsubishi chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Mitsubishi tuning for towing and heavy loads
A Mitsubishi pickup or SUV often spends its life towing, and towing calls for torque at low revs. That is why Mitsubishi tuning with a tuning box revolves around the DI-D diesels, the engines that work with the GAN GT. In Europe Mitsubishi concentrated on the Colt and on SUVs; the Lancer returned to Germany in autumn 2003 after four years away. DI-D is Mitsubishi's name for its direct-injection diesels. The ones from the 2000s onwards are common-rail turbodiesels: the 2.5 DI-D 4D56, the 3.2 DI-D 4M41 and the 2.4 DI-D 4N15, among others.
The Pajero V60 and V80 have their own 3.2 DI-D with 160 to 200 hp. From 2004 to 2010 the Lancer, Grandis and Outlander used a bought-in Volkswagen diesel, the 2.0 DI-D with 140 hp. In 2010 the Lancer received its own 1.8 DI-D with 116 hp. For Mitsubishi L200 chip tuning, look up the L200 by name; the same goes for the Outlander and the ASX.
Which GAN module suits which Mitsubishi
In the catalogue the DI-D turbodiesels mostly get the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power, and the petrol engines mostly the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12%. The L200 2.5 DI-D with 136, 167 and 178 hp and the L200 2.4 DI-D with 154 and 181 hp all work with the GAN GT. Under Pajero (IV) the 3.2 DI-D has GAN GT figures for each output: 160, 170, 190 and 200 hp.
The GAN GT also covers the Outlander 2.2 DI-D and the ASX 1.8 DI-D and 2.2 DI-D. The older Volkswagen 2.0 DI-D in the Outlander and the 3.2 TD in the Pajero (III) are matched with the GAN GA+. The Evolution versions of the Lancer, with the 4G63T and 4B11T engines, are found on the Lancer page, so check the figure there by engine code. The Outlander PHEV pairs a petrol 2.0 (4B11), later a 2.4 (4B12), with electric motors, so check the model page by engine rather than assume a figure.

Engine codes, oil and the brand in Europe
A Mitsubishi engine code has four characters, and the first digit is the number of cylinders. A T at the end, as in 4G63T or 4B11T, marks the turbo version. The number in a version name, such as 2.4 or 2.5 DI-D, is the capacity in litres; the name says nothing about the output.
MIVEC is Mitsubishi's variable valve timing, and by itself it does not say whether an engine has a turbo. In July 2020 Mitsubishi announced its withdrawal from Europe, and in early 2021 it confirmed that the brand stays in some countries, including Germany and Austria. Since 2023 Renault has supplied the Colt and the ASX, which are built on the Clio and the Captur, so look these two up by engine.
Which Mitsubishi models are in the catalogue
The catalogue lists 36 models from Mitsubishi. The most engines are listed for the Pajero (30), Outlander (29) and Lancer (22). The biggest gain among the models is on the Pajero: up to +56 hp.
Naturally aspirated Mitsubishi engines
For 189 naturally aspirated engines from Mitsubishi, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Mitsubishi engine
Choose your model in the list above, then the generation by model year and chassis code, and the engine by the power output in your registration document. The engine page shows the exact gain and the tuning module price.
