Citroen Chip Tuning
Up to 30% more power for your Citroen
The Citroen catalogue lists 325 engines (models: 30, generations: 38). For 77% of the engines, there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning modules; for 76 naturally aspirated engines, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Citroen chip tuning without an ECU remap
The tuning module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Citroen chip tuning: questions
Is the 1.6 HDi 110 the same in the C3, C4, C5 and Berlingo, and how much more power does the GAN GT give?
The catalogue treats each model and version separately: 109 hp and 240 Nm in the C3 I, and 111 hp and 270 Nm in the C3 II, C4 II, C5 II and Berlingo. With the GAN GT, the 111 hp C4 II goes from 111 hp and 270 Nm to 143 hp and 348 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Does a tuning box help the 1.2 PureTech with its wet timing belt?
The wet belt is a documented problem: PSA ran a recall and a service campaign for it. Frequent oil changes help, and the belt can be checked through the oil filler neck. A tuning box adjusts sensor signals; it does not touch the belt or any other mechanical part, so it has no bearing on the belt question. In the C4 II and the Berlingo the 110 hp PureTech works with the GAN GT, as does the 130 hp version in the Berlingo.
Do the 1.6 THP and the 1.6 VTi use the same module?
No: the THP is turbocharged and needs the GAN GT, while the naturally aspirated VTi uses the GAN GA+.
Tuning box or ECU remap for a Citroën HDi?
In Citroën chiptuning the difference is where the change is made: an ECU remap rewrites the factory software, while a tuning box sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The GAN module leaves the factory software, the checksums and the flash counter untouched, and the engine's factory protections stay active. If you take the module off, nothing is left behind, because nothing is ever written to the ECU. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Citroen warranty?
No. The module does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. We also give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or ECU remap: which should I choose?
An ECU remap permanently changes the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Citroen chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Citroën tuning starts with one diesel
Most Citroën tuning with a tuning box comes down to one diesel: the 1.6 HDi 110, fitted to the C3, C4, C5, Berlingo and C3 Picasso. The engine is the DV6; the first C3 received it as the 1.6 HDi FAP with 109 hp from October 2005. Later versions wear the BlueHDi badge; in the Berlingo it comes with 75, 100 and 120 hp.
For Citroën chip tuning the catalogue lists the 1.6 HDi 110 FAP separately for each model, so choose by model and by the exact stock figures of your car. The 2.0 HDi (DW10) follows the same pattern in the C4, the C5 and the Jumpy, known in the UK as the Dispatch. Turbo diesels, along with the turbocharged THP and PureTech petrol engines, work with the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power.
Petrol engines: THP, PureTech and VTi
On the petrol side, a Citroën engine is identified by its family, THP or PureTech. THP is the turbocharged 1.6 with 140, 150 or 156 hp in the C4 and C5; VTi is the naturally aspirated 1.6 with 120 hp. Both belong to the Prince family (EP6), developed with BMW, which calls its versions N12 to N18. The 1.2 PureTech with 110 hp is a turbo engine that reached the C4 in May 2014 and the C3 Picasso in March 2015.
Citroën also offered the C4 with a 130 hp PureTech. The 1.6 VTi with 120 hp works with the GAN GA+. The first C4 offered the 1.6 THP with 140 hp until November 2009 and with 150 hp until August 2010.

Vans, large saloons and the DS models
The Jumper is a twin of the Fiat Ducato and the Peugeot Boxer, and from 2007 to 2010 its 2.2 HDi with 120 hp was a Ford Puma engine. From 2016 the Jumper used the 2.0 BlueHDi with 110, 130 and 160 hp, and the 2.2 BlueHDi with 140 hp followed in June 2019. At the top of the C5 range sat twin-turbo V6 diesels: a 2.7 HDi with 204 hp in 2008 and 2009, and a 3.0 HDi 240 with 241 hp from September 2009.
The third-generation Jumpy, from 2016, is a joint project with Toyota, built at Hordain. The DS3, DS4 and DS5 began life as Citroën models; DS Automobiles was spun off from Citroën over 2014 and 2015.
Which Citroen models are in the catalogue
The catalogue lists 30 models from Citroen. The most engines are listed for the C4 (43), C5 (40) and DS3 (24). The biggest gain among the models is on the C5: up to +65 hp.
Naturally aspirated Citroen engines
For 76 naturally aspirated engines from Citroen, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
