Nissan Chip Tuning
Up to 30% more power for your Nissan
The Nissan catalogue lists 423 engines (models: 77, generations: 106). For 27% of the engines, there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning modules; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Nissan chip tuning without an ECU remap
The tuning module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Nissan chip tuning: questions
Is there a figure for Nissan chiptuning on a Qashqai 1.6 dCi?
Yes: the Qashqai 1.6 dCi has 131 hp and 320 Nm, and with the GAN GT it reaches 170 hp and 409 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Nissan engine tuning: how do I tell a turbo engine from a naturally aspirated one?
Look at the end of the engine code: on the Micra and Qashqai a final T marks a turbo and a final R a supercharger. The HR16DE has neither and is naturally aspirated; the MR16DDT has a T and a turbo. The version name helps too, since DIG-T and dCi mark turbo engines.
Which Navara 2.5 dCi versions are covered?
The D40 versions with 171, 174 and 190 hp work with the GAN GT, and so does the 3.0 dCi V6 with 231 hp. Choose by output and year: the D23 from 2015 has a different engine, the 2.3 dCi, which the catalogue covers at 190 hp only.
Tuning box or ECU remap for a Nissan dCi?
An ECU remap replaces the factory software in the engine control unit, which is a different method from a tuning box. The GAN module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals, so the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Nissan warranty?
No. The module does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. We also give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or ECU remap: which should I choose?
An ECU remap permanently changes the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Nissan chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Nissan tuning starts with the engine code
Two Qashqai engines have a similar output, the 1.2 DIG-T of the second generation and the 1.6-litre petrol of the first. Yet for Nissan tuning with a tuning box they are two different engines. DIG-T in a version name marks a turbo petrol engine with direct injection, so the 1.2 DIG-T needs a different module from the 1.6-litre petrol of similar output. In a Nissan engine code the letters give the family and the two digits the capacity in decilitres.
On the Micra and Qashqai engines a final T means a turbo and a final R a supercharger; the HR16DE, MR20DE, QR25DE and VQ35DE have neither and are naturally aspirated. The MR16DDT is a turbo engine, while the QR25DER and the HR12DDR have a belt-driven supercharger. DIG-S is the supercharged 1.2 petrol engine of the Micra and the Note. Nissan shares engines with Renault, so the HR16DE is the Renault H4M, the MR20DE the M4R, the MR16DDT the M5Mt and the HR12DDT the H5Ft.
Diesel: mostly Renault engines
The dCi diesels of the Qashqai, X-Trail and Juke are Renault engines: the 1.5 dCi K9K, the 1.6 dCi R9M and the 2.0 dCi M9R. The Pathfinder and the Navara have Nissan's own 2.5 dCi, the YD25DDTi. For Nissan chip tuning on a dCi, the catalogue gives the GAN GT. The Qashqai 1.5 dCi with 103 to 110 hp, the 1.6 dCi with 131 hp and the 2.0 dCi with 150 hp are among them.
The X-Trail 2.0 dCi with 150 and 173 hp works with the GAN GT as well. The Navara D40 for continental Europe was built in Spain. Its diesels are the 2.5 dCi with 174, 171 and 190 hp and the 3.0 dCi V6 with 231 hp. The Navara D23, built in Barcelona until December 2021, has the 2.3 dCi with 160, 163 and 190 hp; the 160 and 163 hp versions are not in the catalogue.

Petrol, hybrid and Nismo
In the catalogue the dCi and DIG-T engines mostly get the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power, and the naturally aspirated petrol engines the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12%. The e-Power of the Qashqai J12 and the X-Trail T33 is a series hybrid. Its petrol engine only drives a generator, so look at the model page rather than assume a figure. The Juke Nismo and Nismo RS have a 1.6 DIG-T with up to 218 hp, and both work with the GAN GT.
Which Nissan models are in the catalogue
The catalogue lists 77 models from Nissan. The most engines are listed for the Pathfinder (22), Almera (20) and X-Trail (19). The biggest gain among the models is on the Juke: up to +82 hp.
Naturally aspirated Nissan engines
For 299 naturally aspirated engines from Nissan, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Nissan engine
Choose your model in the list above, then the generation by model year and chassis code, and the engine by the power output in your registration document. The engine page shows the exact gain and the tuning module price.
