Seat Chip Tuning
Up to 30% more power for your Seat
The Seat catalogue lists 187 engines (models: 11, generations: 19). For 66% of the engines, there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning modules; for the rest, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Seat chip tuning without an ECU remap
The tuning module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Seat chip tuning: questions
Leon or Ibiza with a 1.9 or 2.0 TDI: pump injector or common rail?
The catalogue treats the pump injector (PD) and common rail (CR) versions separately, even when the power is the same. In the Leon II the PD engines have codes such as BKD and the common rail ones codes such as CFHC, so check the code before you choose.
How much more power does the GAN GT give the 1.4 TSI and the other SEAT turbo petrols?
The Ibiza 1.4 TSI with 150 hp and 240 Nm reaches 195 hp and 315 Nm with the GAN GT in the catalogue. The catalogue covers the 1.0, 1.2 and 1.4 TSI separately, and the Ibiza 1.4 TSI FR and Cupra as well. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
What does the GAN GA+ give a SEAT 1.4 MPI, 1.6 or 2.0 FSI?
These are naturally aspirated petrol engines and work with the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power.
SEAT chiptuning: tuning box or ECU remap for a TSI or TDI?
An ECU remap rewrites the factory software, while the GAN tuning module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, the checksums and the flash counter stay untouched, and the engine's factory protections remain active. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Seat warranty?
No. The module does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. We also give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or ECU remap: which should I choose?
An ECU remap permanently changes the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Seat chip tuning: what to know about the engines
SEAT tuning: Volkswagen engines under a Spanish badge
SEAT tuning with a tuning box is really a Volkswagen Group question: SEAT has belonged to the group since 1986 and shares its engines with Volkswagen, Audi and Škoda. The Leon III uses the EA211 (1.0 to 1.5 TSI), the EA888 (1.8 and 2.0 TSI) and the EA288 (1.6 and 2.0 TDI). These are the engine families of the Golf, the Octavia and the A3 of the same years. SEAT sells cars under two names, SEAT and Cupra, and since 2018 Cupra has been a brand of its own.
Before 2018 Cupra was the top trim, as in the Leon Cupra and the Cupra R. The Leon and the Ibiza are the two core SEAT models.
Reading SEAT engine names
TSI stands for a turbocharged direct injection petrol engine; at SEAT every TSI, from the 1.0 to the 2.0, has a turbo. TFSI is the earlier name for the same thing, as in the 2.0 TFSI of the Leon II FR, Cupra and Cupra R. FSI means direct injection without a turbo, so the 1.6 FSI and the 2.0 FSI are naturally aspirated. MPI is a naturally aspirated petrol engine with multipoint injection, such as the 1.0 MPI of the Ibiza V.
TDI is a turbodiesel, with pump injectors (PD) until the end of the 2000s and common rail afterwards. ACT switches off two cylinders on the 1.4 TSI with 150 hp and on the 1.5 TSI. Ecomotive marks versions with lower fuel use, such as the 1.6 TDI Ecomotive; it is a package, not a separate engine. Most turbo engines work with the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power, and naturally aspirated ones with the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12%. Which module applies is always set by the catalogue for your engine.

Cupra, FR and the Ibiza
FR, short for Formula Racing, is the sporty trim one step below Cupra. The Leon Cupra went from the 1.8T with 180 to 225 hp and the 2.0 TFSI with 240 to 265 hp to the 2.0 TSI with 265 to 300 hp. The Ibiza Cupra and FR of 2009 to 2015 used the 1.4 TSI Twincharger, with a supercharger and a turbo. In 2015 the Cupra moved to the 1.8 TSI with 192 hp.
Which SEAT models are in the catalogue
Besides the Leon and the Ibiza the catalogue covers the Altea, Toledo, Cordoba, Arosa, Alhambra, Exeo, Ateca, Arona and Tarraco. The Inca, a van based on the Volkswagen Caddy, and the Málaga, a four-door Ibiza-based car of the 1980s, are not in the catalogue.
Which Seat models are in the catalogue
The catalogue lists 11 models from Seat. The most engines are listed for the Ibiza (56), Leon (45) and Toledo (21). The biggest gain among the models is on the Leon: up to +77 hp.
Naturally aspirated Seat engines
For 27 naturally aspirated engines from Seat, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Seat engine
Choose your model in the list above, then the generation by model year and chassis code, and the engine by the power output in your registration document. The engine page shows the exact gain and the tuning module price.
