What does the GAN GA+ give the Subaru 2.0D, a turbodiesel?
The 2.0D with 150 hp and 350 Nm reaches 168 hp and 392 Nm with the GAN GA+ in the catalogue. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
What does the GAN GA+ give the naturally aspirated EJ20, FB20 and EJ25?
The 2.0 and 2.5 petrol engines marked i work with the GAN GA+, and the ceiling is up to 12% more power. Each engine has its own figures, so choose by the power and the code on your car.
WRX, STI and Forester XT turbo: which pages apply?
The EJ205, EJ207, EJ255 and EJ257 are turbo engines of the WRX, STI and Forester XT. They belong to the Impreza WRX and Forester pages, not to the naturally aspirated Impreza versions.

The factory software, the checksums and the flash counter stay untouched, and the engine's factory protections remain active. An ECU remap permanently changes the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.

Subaru tuning: the diesel arrived in March 2008
Since March 2008 Subaru tuning with a tuning box has had two halves: that month the first Subaru diesel reached Europe in the Legacy and the Outback. It is the 2.0 boxer diesel EE20 with 150 hp and 350 Nm, first shown in Geneva; the Impreza received it at the start of 2009. Subaru calls it the Boxer Diesel, the first series-production boxer diesel for a passenger car in the world.
In the catalogue the 2.0D, a turbodiesel, works with the GAN GA+ and goes from the stock 150 hp and 350 Nm to 168 hp and 392 Nm. It remains the one diesel Subaru has built itself. On the Impreza the diesel belongs to the third generation.
Reading Subaru engine codes
In the European range of recent years every Subaru engine is a boxer, apart from the models built on Toyota or Daihatsu platforms. Chip tuning for your Subaru starts from the code: family letters plus two digits for the displacement. EJ20 and FB20 are 2.0 litres, EJ25 and FB25 are 2.5 litres, and EZ30 and EZ36 are the six-cylinder 3.0 and 3.6. The letter i after the displacement marks a naturally aspirated petrol version, while WRX, STI, XT and GT mark the turbos. Three-digit EJ codes name the version. The EJ205 and EJ207 are turbo 2.0 engines of the WRX and STI; the EJ255 and EJ257 are turbo 2.5 engines of the Forester XT, WRX and STI. The EJ251 and EJ253 are naturally aspirated 2.5 engines.
So an i in the name tells you there is no turbo, and XT or STI tells you there is. Take the EJ25: it is a 2.5 litre family, and the EJ253 is one naturally aspirated version within it. The six-cylinder 3.0 and 3.6, the EZ30 and EZ36, work with the GAN GA+. The naturally aspirated i versions get the GAN GA+ as well, rated at up to 12% more power.

Hybrids and models
The e-Boxer is a mild hybrid, shown on the Forester and the XV in Geneva in March 2019. On the Impreza it arrived in March 2020 as the 2.0ie, with 150 hp and an electric motor. It replaced the naturally aspirated FB20D with direct injection. The fifth-generation Impreza in Europe is a hatchback only.
The turbo WRX and STI have pages of their own, separate from the Impreza. Besides the Impreza, the Subaru range includes the Legacy, Outback, Forester, XV and BRZ.
