What makes the Audi A6 C7 special
Audi A6 C7 tuning before and after October 2014
For Audi A6 C7 tuning with a tuning box the first question is the October 2014 facelift: which side of it is your car on? Engine power is the subject here, not body kits or styling. The facelift changed almost the whole engine range of the Typ 4G, so a 2.0 TDI from before and after autumn 2014 is not the same engine. At launch the base diesel was the EA189 2.0 TDI with 177 hp and 380 Nm, and from November 2011 a 136 hp version sat below it.
After the facelift it was the EA288 2.0 TDI ultra with 190 hp and 400 Nm. The V6 3.0 TDI with 204 and 245 hp became 218 and 272 hp, and the BiTDI went from 313 to 320 hp, joined by a 326 hp Competition version. On petrol the 2.0 TFSI with 179 hp gave way to the 1.8 TFSI with 190 hp, and the 2.0 TFSI with 252 hp appeared only after the facelift.
The rest of the C7 range
The supercharged 3.0 TFSI made 299 hp from late 2010, then 310 hp until the facelift and 333 hp afterwards. The 2.8 FSI with 204 hp is the naturally aspirated V6, and it works with the GAN GA+. The saloon was launched in December 2010, the Avant followed in September 2011 and the allroad quattro in 2012. The codes are 4G2 or 4GC for the saloon, 4G5 or 4GD for the Avant and 4GH or 4GJ for the allroad. Production stopped in May 2018.

What does Audi A6 C7 chip tuning give on the 2.0 TDI 177 and the 2.0 TDI ultra 190?
They are different engine families, and both work with the GAN GT. The 2.0 TDI 177 goes from 177 hp and 380 Nm to 210 hp and 481 Nm. The 2.0 TDI ultra 190 goes from 190 hp and 400 Nm to 225 hp and 505 Nm. These are the stated gains for these engine types, not dyno readings of your car.
Does the multitronic gearbox limit the 3.0 TDI 204 of the A6 C7?
The C7 3.0 TDI with 204 hp and 400 Nm comes with front-wheel drive and multitronic, whose torque limit was 400 Nm in its strongest version. Because the module does not reprogram the gearbox, compare the tuned torque in the catalogue with that limit.
Can the module still be fitted to a 2.0 TDI after the EA189 emissions update?
The update covered the 2.0 TDI 136 and 177 hp (EA189) of the C7, and Volkswagen says rated power and the torque curve do not change with it. A tuning box leaves the ECU software as it finds it, whereas an ECU remap rewrites it.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
