What makes the Daihatsu Copen special
Daihatsu Copen tuning: the engine change of 2006
In spring 2006 the Daihatsu Copen changed engine in Germany: the right-hand-drive 0.66 turbo gave way to the left-hand-drive 1.3. The 0.66 turbo JB-DET was sold there from 2004 to the end of 2005 with 68 hp; the 64 hp and 110 Nm in the catalogue are the Japanese kei specification. The 1.3 K3-VE makes 87 hp and 120 Nm; 2006 was also the Copen's best year in Germany, with 802 of all 2,511 new Copens. Copen tuning covers both: each engine works with the GAN GA+ tuning box.

Can a Copen be tuned with a tuning box?
On the 1.3 the module lifts output from 87 hp to 97 hp. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power; these are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Copen chip tuning: 0.66 turbo or 1.3, which do I have?
Go by the engine: the 0.66 turbo is in the right-hand-drive L880, the 1.3 in the left-hand-drive L881.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
