What makes the Ford Mondeo IV special
Ford Mondeo 4 tuning: diesel or petrol
A diesel and a petrol Mondeo Mk4 of similar output can take different modules, so Ford Mondeo 4 tuning with a tuning box begins by splitting the range in two. Mondeo 2.0 TDCi tuning is above all about the 140 hp version, the main diesel from 2007 to 2014. The 2.0 TDCi with 140 hp works with the GAN GT, while the naturally aspirated 2.3 Duratec with 161 hp pairs with the GAN GA+.
The other Mk4 engines
Alongside it, the 1.8 TDCi with 125 hp, the 2.0 TDCi with 116, 131 and 163 hp, the 2.2 TDCi with 175 and 200 hp and the 1.6 TDCi with 116 hp also use the GAN GT. The 2.0 EcoBoost arrived in spring 2010 with 203 hp, and the facelift of December 2010 added a 239 hp version and the 1.6 EcoBoost with 160 hp. The 2.5T with 220 hp, a Volvo five-cylinder, stayed until November 2010 and is covered by the GAN GT too. The GAN GA+ also covers the 1.6 Duratec Ti-VCT and the 2.0 Duratec with 145 hp.

In the catalogue the 2.2 TDCi 200 goes to 256 hp with the GAN GT. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car. A German recall covered the 2.2 TDCi 200 built between January 2012 and February 2013 because of its injector seal rings.
What does Ford Mondeo Mk4 chip tuning mean for the turbo petrols?
The 1.6 EcoBoost with 160 hp, the 2.0 EcoBoost with 203 and 239 hp and the 2.5T all work with the GAN GT, which is rated at up to 30% more power.
Is Ford Mondeo tuning possible on the Duratec petrol engines?
Yes, the naturally aspirated Duratec engines use the GAN GA+, which is rated at up to 12% more power.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
