What makes the Holden Commodore special

Holden Commodore tuning: an Australian car, a British twin

Holden Commodore tuning with a tuning box calls for an honest opening: the Commodore was never sold in Europe under that name. In the UK the Vauxhall VXR8 was its right-hand-drive version from 2007 to 2017, with 6.0 and 6.2 V8 engines and, from 2013, a supercharged 6.2 LSA. The Commodore ZB of 2018 to 2020 is the Opel Insignia B, built in Rüsselsheim.

The catalogue covers Australian engines, such as the 3.6 SIDI V6 with 282 hp and the 6.0 L98 V8 with 362 hp. They work with the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power. The Australian names include the VE, VT and SV6.

Holden tune: what does the GAN GA+ add to the VE SS 6.0 V8?

With the GAN GA+ the 6.0 L98 goes from 362 hp and 530 Nm to 391 hp and 572 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

Is the SV6 3.6 SIDI with 282 hp the same as the 255 hp SV6?

No. The SIDI with 282 hp was built in 2009 and 2010, while the 255 hp SV6 has the older Alloytec engine, so each is listed separately for the GAN GA+.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
