What makes the Honda CR-Z special
Honda CR-Z tuning: where the hybrid runs out of pull
On the Honda CR-Z the electric support fades at about 132 km/h, so at motorway speed the petrol engine does the work alone. Honda CR-Z tuning with a tuning box works on the 1.5 i-VTEC petrol engine, which has 114 hp before the facelift of 2013 and 120 hp after it. The system output of 124 hp or 137 hp combines the petrol engine and the electric motor, so it does not count as a gain. The catalogue lists these engines at 114 hp and 120 hp, and with the GAN GA+ each gains 14 hp and 17 Nm.

Is the facelift CR-Z listed separately?
Yes, the facelift brought a lithium-ion battery and a 120 hp engine, and the catalogue lists it separately for the GAN GA+. The GAN GA+ gives up to 12% more power, so expect a modest gain on this small engine.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
