All three catalogue engines of the Hyundai Coupe, the 1.6 CVVT, the 2.0 CVVT and the 2.7 V6, are naturally aspirated. Hyundai Coupe tuning with a tuning box therefore means the GAN GA+: the 2.7 V6 with 167 hp, or 165 hp from 2007, gains 20 hp and 29 Nm. The GAN GA+ takes the 2.0 CVVT from 143 hp and 186 Nm to 160 hp and 208 Nm. The 1.6 CVVT with 105 hp gains 13 hp and 17 Nm with the same module. The GAN GA+ gives up to 12% more power, and these are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Tuning box or ECU remap for a Hyundai Coupe?
Chiptuning Hyundai Coupe means one of two methods: an ECU remap rewrites the factory software in the engine control unit (ECU), while the GAN tuning module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. A Hyundai Coupe ECU is left as it is: the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
