What makes the Hyundai Genesis special
Hyundai Genesis tuning: three cars share one name
Genesis tuning can mean three different things: the Genesis Coupe, the Hyundai Genesis saloon, or a car of the Genesis brand, a separate make since 2015. This page covers the two Hyundai models; a tuning box for either has to match its engine and year. The Genesis Coupe (BK) was built from 2008, reached Germany two years later and was sold there until 2015 as a rear-wheel-drive coupe; 136,597 were built worldwide. It came in four versions.
The 2.0 turbo had 214 hp until August 2012 and 275 hp after that; the naturally aspirated 3.8 V6 had 303 hp, later 347 hp. The 3.8 V6 had 361 Nm, later 400 Nm. The 275 hp version has 373 Nm and arrived with the 2012 facelift. The gearboxes were a six-speed manual, a six-speed ZF automatic and later an eight-speed automatic.
The saloon and other markets
The Hyundai Genesis saloon (DH) was sold in Germany from September 2014 to March 2017. It had a single engine, the 3.8 V6 GDI with 315 hp and 397 Nm. It came only with four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic.
In the catalogue this saloon is the 3.8 with 315 hp. The catalogue also covers the first-generation Genesis saloon (BH) and versions for other markets; Hyundai did not sell those cars in Europe. The 2.0 turbo works with the GAN GT, and the V6 engines with the GAN GA+.

Which 2.0 turbo do I tune, the 214 hp or the 275 hp?
The 214 hp version was sold until August 2012, and the 275 hp version from August 2012 to September 2015. The turbo in the catalogue, with 250 hp and 373 Nm, matches neither European version, 214 hp or 275 hp, so its figures apply to neither.
How much more power does the Hyundai Genesis saloon get?
The saloon has 315 hp and 397 Nm as standard, and 340 hp and 429 Nm with the GAN GA+. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power, while the GAN GT for the 2.0 turbo is rated at up to 30%. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Is the coupe's 3.8 V6 naturally aspirated?
Yes, the 3.8 V6 with 303 hp, later 347 hp, has no turbocharger.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
