Not sure which engine you have?
The badge alone is not enough: in this generation, the same engine designation came in different power outputs, each with its own calibration. Check the power output in your registration document and find the matching row.

Hyundai Kona tuning: what changes
The tuning module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

What makes the Hyundai Kona special
Hyundai Kona tuning: the 1.6 T-GDI in two calibrations
Hyundai Kona tuning starts with one question: does a tuning box suit the 1.6 T-GDI with 177 or 198 hp? The first generation, the Kona OS, came to Europe in November 2017, and the facelift followed in November 2020. The 177 hp version, built from June 2018 to November 2020, has 265 Nm, all-wheel drive and a 7-speed DCT.
After the facelift of November 2020 the engine made 198 hp, still with 265 Nm, and it continues in the Kona II. The two calibrations have different engine codes, G4FJ and G4FP, so the year and the engine code tell you which one you have.
The 1.0 T-GDI, the Kona N and the hybrids
The 1.0 T-GDI makes 120 hp and 172 Nm with a six-speed manual gearbox. In the Kona II the 1.0 T-GDI returns with 100 hp from August 2024 and 115 hp from August 2025. The 100 hp and 115 hp versions of the 1.0 T-GDI are not in the catalogue. The Kona N 2.0 T-GDI with 280 hp and 392 Nm is not listed separately for the Kona: the same engine appears as the 2.0 N Performance of the Hyundai i30.
The 1.6 CRDi with 136 hp and 320 Nm is not in the Kona catalogue either: you will find the same engine under the 1.6 CRDi of the Hyundai Tucson. The Kona Electric has no combustion engine, so this page does not cover it. The Kona II has been sold in Europe since April 2023 and has no diesel.
Hyundai Kona chip tuning: questions
Which Kona 1.6 T-GDI do I have, 177 hp or 198 hp?
The 177 hp engine, code G4FJ, was built from June 2018 to November 2020. The 198 hp engine, code G4FP, has been built since the facelift of November 2020.
How much more power does the Kona 1.6 T-GDI with 177 hp get?
The 177 hp version has 265 Nm as standard, and 226 hp and 360 Nm with the GAN GT. For turbo engines such as this one the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Is the Kona 1.0 T-GDI in the catalogue?
Yes, the catalogue lists the 1.0 T-GDI with 120 hp and 172 Nm, without stating the year.
Is the 141 hp figure of the Kona Hybrid an engine output?
No. 141 hp is the system output: the 1.6 GDI petrol engine, which makes 105 hp and 147 Nm, together with the electric motor. The 141 hp given for the 1.6 GDI in the catalogue is that system output of the hybrid, not an engine output. The 175 hp version and the 2.0i with 149 hp are for other markets.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
