About the generation

What makes the Infiniti Q50 special

Infiniti Q50 tuning: the engines come from Mercedes

A European Infiniti Q50 has Mercedes engines under the bonnet, with the hybrid and the 3.0t as the Nissan exceptions. The 2.2d diesel is the OM651 with 170 hp and 400 Nm, and the 2.0t petrol is the M274 with 211 hp and 350 Nm. A tuning box for the Q50 is chosen by engine, the 2.2d or the 2.0t.

For chip tuning, both Mercedes engines work with the GAN GT: the 2.2d goes from 170 hp to 218 hp, and the 2.0t from 211 hp to 242 hp. The 3.5 Hybrid has a system output of 364 hp, and the 3.0t has 405 hp.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
