What makes the Jaecoo J7 special
Jaecoo J7 tuning: the same car as the Jaecoo 7
In Europe the car is sold as the Jaecoo 7, without the J, so Jaecoo J7 tuning with a tuning box means the same model. In China the same car is the Chery Tansuo 06, also called the Tiggo 7 High Energy. Jaecoo is Chery's export brand, and the J7 is its first model in Europe. Built in Dalian on the T1X platform, it was shown in Shanghai in 2023 and reached Europe in 2024.
Its internal code is T1EJ. Italy got it in autumn 2024 with petrol only, Britain followed in December 2024, and Germany sells it as well. There is one body: a five-door C-segment crossover about 4.5 metres long.
Engines in Europe
The petrol engine is the 1.6 TGDI, a 1,598 cc Kunpeng unit with 147 hp and 275 Nm, paired with a seven-speed DCT and front- or all-wheel drive depending on the version. Versions with 186 to 197 hp appear in descriptions of other markets, so check the output of your own car. The hybrids are the plug-in SHS-P and the full hybrid SHS-H, the latter sold in Europe since March 2026; both use a 1.5 turbo petrol engine. The SHS-P adds an electric motor to the 1.5 turbo engine and has a WLTP range of about 90 km.

What does a tuning box leave untouched on a new brand?

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
