What makes the Kia Stinger special
Kia Stinger tuning: three engines, all for the GAN GT
Kia sold the Stinger in Europe from October 2017 to May 2023, and after the facelift of 2020 only the 3.3 T-GDI with 366 hp remained in the range. Kia Stinger tuning with a tuning box therefore covers three engines, and every one of them works with the GAN GT. The 3.3 T-GDI is a twin-turbo V6 with 370 hp until August 2018 and 366 hp from September 2018, when it received a particulate filter. The catalogue lists both versions: the 370 hp engine gains 63 hp and 87 Nm, and the 366 hp engine gains 62 hp and 87 Nm.
The 2.0 T-GDI and the 2.2 CRDi
For Kia Stinger 2.0 chip tuning, the 2.0 T-GDI made 255 hp until August 2018 and 247 hp from September 2018, with 353 Nm in both cases. In the catalogue it gains 42 hp and 60 Nm. The 2.2 CRDi with 200 hp and 440 Nm was built from October 2017 to June 2020, and with the module it gains 47 hp and 80 Nm. The 2.0 T-GDI and the 2.2 CRDi drive the rear wheels, with all-wheel drive as an option on the diesel, while the 3.3 T-GDI has all-wheel drive; all three use an eight-speed automatic.
Recall campaigns
Kia ran two recall campaigns in Germany: one for the oil-feed pipe of the left turbocharger of the 3.3 T-GDI, and one for a piston in the high-pressure fuel pump valve of the 2.0 T-GDI. Both repairs are free of charge, and the campaign for the 2.0 T-GDI also updates the control unit software.

How much more power does a Stinger 3.3 T-GDI with 366 hp get from a tuning box?
With the GAN GT this engine reaches 428 hp and 597 Nm, against 366 hp and 510 Nm as delivered. For a turbo petrol engine like this one the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power; these are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Does the turbocharger oil-pipe recall matter for a tuning box?
The recall concerns the 3.3 T-GDI built between November 2016 and March 2023, and the pipe is repaired free of charge. Have the recall work done at a Kia dealer.
Tuning box or ECU remap for a Stinger?
Kia Stinger chiptuning offers two methods: an ECU remap rewrites the factory software in the engine control unit (ECU), while the GAN tuning module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. With the module the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched, and the engine's factory protections remain active.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
