What makes the Mazda CX-3 special
Mazda CX-3 tuning for a petrol crossover
Only about 6% of Mazda CX-3 cars registered in Germany between 2015 and 2022 were diesels, and from 2020 there were none. The typical CX-3 therefore runs the 2.0 SKYACTIV-G petrol engine: direct injection, no turbocharger. With front-wheel drive it makes 120 hp and 204 Nm; the 150 hp version comes only with all-wheel drive.
Tuning with a tuning box covers both versions. With the GAN GA+, the 150 hp CX-3 reaches 168 hp and 228 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car. The 120 hp car reaches 134 hp and 228 Nm with the same module.
The 2018 update and the diesels
The CX-3 is a five-door small crossover on the Mazda2 platform, shown in Geneva in March 2015 and sold from June 2015. There is only one generation of this crossover; the July 2018 facelift brought a new grille and an electric parking brake. German registrations of the CX-3 peaked in 2019.
From July 2018 the 2.0 petrol makes 121 hp and 207 Nm, and the 150 hp version has 207 Nm until 2020. For a 121 hp car, the 120 hp version is the closest match in the catalogue. The diesels are the 1.5 SKYACTIV-D with 105 hp and 270 Nm, replaced in July 2018 by the 1.8 SKYACTIV-D with 115 hp.

Choose by drive: 120 hp is the front-wheel-drive car, and 150 hp is the all-wheel-drive car. Both work with the GAN GA+, which is rated at up to 12% more power. The catalogue also gives them up to 15% lower fuel consumption with an economical driving style.
Mazda CX3 ECU and chip tuning: what does the tuning box change and what stays untouched?
The CX-3 tuning box works without an ECU remap: it sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Is the CX-3 diesel in the catalogue?
No: neither the 1.5 SKYACTIV-D with 105 hp nor the 1.8 SKYACTIV-D with 115 hp is in the catalogue.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
