What makes the MG 3 special
MG3 tuning: the petrol car of 2013 to 2024
Outside Britain, Europe only met the MG3 in 2024 as a hybrid; the catalogue, though, covers the petrol MG3 of 2013 to 2024. Britain was the official European market, with sales from September 2013 and assembly at Longbridge until 2016. MG3 tuning means the 1.5 VTi-Tech, 106 hp and 135 Nm with a five-speed manual, and the tuning box is matched to it. The torque peak of 135 Nm comes at 4500 rpm.
It was the mainstream engine of the British MG3, and it is naturally aspirated. In 2016 it became the Euro 6 VTi-Tech with Start-Stop, and in 2018 the second facelift brought a new interior and an 8-inch screen. The rarer 1.3 VTi-Tech makes 93 hp and 118 Nm, and the catalogue lists it at 92 hp. Every MG3 engine in the catalogue works with the GAN GA+.
Engines from the Chinese market
The 87 hp version in the catalogue belongs to the Chinese 1.3 of 2011 and 2012, which made 88 hp and 117 Nm. The 109 hp version is the Chinese 1.5 with 135 Nm, while the British car makes 106 hp.
The 2024 cars: Hybrid+ and the new petrol
The third-generation MG3 was shown in Geneva in February 2024, and European sales began in spring 2024. The Hybrid+ pairs a 1.5 petrol engine of 102 hp with a 136 hp electric motor for 194 to 195 hp in total. A petrol 1.5 with 116 hp and 148 Nm followed in Germany in March 2025. Neither of these is in the catalogue.

With the GAN GA+, the 106 hp 1.5 reaches 119 hp. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power; these are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Where do I find the MG3 1.3 VTi-Tech with 93 hp?
Look for the version with 92 hp and 118 Nm; the catalogue labels it 1.0i, but it is the 1.3 VTi-Tech.
Are the MG3 Hybrid+ and the 116 hp petrol in the catalogue?
No. Neither the Hybrid+ nor the 116 hp petrol of 2024 is in the catalogue.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
