What makes the Mitsubishi Eclipse special
Mitsubishi Eclipse tuning: the 4G63 that Europe got
The Eclipse comes with many body codes and trim names: D30, G1, GS, Spyder. Only the first two generations were sold officially in Europe, and the engine a European car will have is the 2.0 DOHC, code 4G63. That engine, not the trim name, is what a tuning box is matched to. The Eclipse II, the D30 sold from 1995 to 2000, came as the GS 2.0 DOHC with 146 hp and 177 Nm until 1996, then with 141 hp and 179 Nm.
The catalogue lists the GS 2.0 at 142 hp and 177 Nm. The first Eclipse, the D20, reached Germany in special versions: the GS 2.0 DOHC with 150 hp and, from 1994, the turbocharged GS-T with 195 hp. The D20 GS with 150 hp is not in the catalogue.
The American generations in the catalogue
The Eclipse III of 2000 to 2005 and the Eclipse IV of 2005 to 2012 were built for the United States; in Europe they are grey imports without a Mitsubishi dealer network. The other engines in the catalogue are American-market units: a 2.4, a 3.0 V6 with 210 hp and a 3.8 V6 with 263 hp or 265 hp. Their outputs are US ratings in SAE hp, not the figures quoted in Europe.
The 3.0 V6 is the 6G72, and parts for it come from the Galant V6 24V. The Spyder convertible was never sold in Europe, so its figures apply to American cars only.

With the GAN GA+ the catalogue's 142 hp and 177 Nm become 159 hp and 198 Nm. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Eclipse with the 3.0 V6 or 3.8 V6: how do I choose for chip tuning?
Go by engine code and model year: the 3.0 V6 with 210 hp and 278 Nm, or the 3.8 V6 with 263 hp or 265 hp. Both engines belong to the American generations.
Is Eclipse Spyder tuning the same as for the coupé?
The catalogue lists the Spyder separately from the coupé, and nothing confirms that they share the coupé's engine codes.
Is the turbocharged Eclipse GS-T in the catalogue?
No. The GS-T with 195 hp that Germany received from 1994 is not in the catalogue, and the American GS-T and GSX are not in the catalogue either.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
