What makes the Nissan 350Z special
350Z tuning: the year decides the engine
How much power a 350Z has depends on the date: 280 hp until 2005, about 300 hp from September 2005 and 313 hp from January 2007. That is why Nissan 350Z tuning with a tuning box starts with the build year. A 350Z from 2003 has the first 3.5 V6, the VQ35DE with 280 hp and 363 Nm, and a six-speed manual as standard in Germany. The September 2005 facelift brought the VQ35DE Rev-Up with 300 hp and 353 Nm, which then became the standard engine of every 350Z. From January 2007 the VQ35HR gives 313 hp and 358 Nm and revs to 7,500 rpm.
The coupé reached Germany in October 2003 and the roadster in March 2005; coupé sales ended in December 2008, roadster sales in 2009. The January 2007 facelift added a raised bonnet to clear the VQ35HR. The 35th Anniversary Edition of 2005 had the 301 hp engine and was limited to 700 cars for Europe, 100 of them for Germany. From 2003 to 2009, 6,309 350Zs were registered in Germany, 1,897 of them in 2004. In Japan the car is called the Fairlady Z.

These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car. On a naturally aspirated engine the GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power.
350Z tuning box or ECU remap: what is the difference?
A remap rewrites the software in the control unit, whereas the tuning box leaves that software alone and adjusts the sensor signals instead. Factory software, checksums and flash counter all stay untouched, and the GAN module comes off in about a minute.
How much power does the GAN GA+ add to the 350Z with 280 hp?
The VQ35DE with 280 hp and 363 Nm goes to 302 hp and 392 Nm with the GAN GA+.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
