What makes the Nissan Frontier special
Frontier tuning and the Navara in Europe
One market fact comes first with Nissan Frontier tuning: Europe never had a Frontier, and the pickup of that class was sold there as the Navara. To tune a Frontier with a tuning box, you work from the American range: petrol King Cab engines of 2.4, 2.5, 3.3 and 4.0 litres. The 4.0 V6 comes with 261 and 265 hp.
The European Navara's diesels, the 2.5 dCi with 174, 171 and 190 hp and the 3.0 dCi V6 with 231 hp, have a page of their own. All seven catalogue versions work with the GAN GA+.

Frontier computer tuning: how does a tuning box differ from an ECU tune?
An ECU tune rewrites the program inside the control unit. The GAN module works on the signals that reach the ECU, and the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Because it plugs into the existing connectors, it comes off again in about a minute.
What does the GAN GA+ add to the Frontier 4.0 V6?
With the GAN GA+, the catalogue lists the 265 hp King Cab at 286 hp. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power, and these are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
