What makes the Nissan Versa special
Nissan Versa tuning and the European Tiida
The Nissan Tiida, the European counterpart of the Versa, was sold in Germany from January 2008; Nissan stopped importing it in 2011 for lack of demand. That makes Nissan Versa tuning a question of engines rather than names: a tuning box works with the engine and its output. The Tiida in Germany had the 1.6 HR16DE with 110 hp and 153 Nm and the 1.8 MR18DE with 126 hp and 173 Nm. The 1.6 came with a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, the 1.8 with a six-speed manual.
Outside Germany the Tiida was also offered with the Renault 1.5 dCi. The Versa uses the same two engine families. The American Versa with the 1.8 MR18DE made 122 hp as a hatchback and 124 hp as a saloon.
Which Versa engine you have
The 1.6 HR16DE with 109 hp and 145 Nm was fitted to the Versa Note of 2013 to 2019. The Versa saloon, which arrived a year earlier, had the same engine. The Versa III from 2019 uses the same 1.6 HR16DE with 122 hp and 155 Nm. This Versa III is based on the fifth-generation Micra and was not sold in Europe.
The 1.6 is naturally aspirated, which limits the gain: the GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power. In Europe the Versa Note was sold as the Note, with different engines, so a European Note does not match the American 1.6. So for an imported Versa, the engine code and the output decide, not the body style.

The catalogue lists 122 hp and 155 Nm as standard, and 137 hp and 174 Nm with the GAN GA+. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption with an economical driving style. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Does the Versa 1.8 share its engine with the Tiida?
Yes, both use the 1.8 MR18DE, which makes 126 hp and 173 Nm in the German Tiida.
Which GAN module fits the Versa 1.6 with 109 hp?

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
