Insignia tuning: three quarters of the cars are diesels
According to the KBA, Germany registered roughly 151,000 diesel and 43,900 petrol Insignia A between 2008 and 2016. That works out at a diesel share of about 77 to 78%. Insignia tuning with a tuning box therefore centres on the 2.0 CDTI. It came with 110, 131 and 160 hp from 2008, with 163 hp from June 2013 and with 170 hp from January 2015.
For Opel Insignia chip tuning, the GAN GT is matched to each of these outputs separately. The 2.0 BiTurbo CDTI with 194 hp also works with the GAN GT, and so does the 1.6 CDTI with 136 hp, available from July 2015. Since June 2013 the 2.0 CDTI has also been sold with 120 hp and, as the ecoFLEX, with 140 hp.
Petrol engines and the OPC
The turbo petrols are the 1.4 Turbo with 140 hp, the 1.6 Turbo with 179 hp and the 1.6 SIDI Turbo with 170 hp. The 2.0 Turbo and the 2.8 V6 Turbo with 260 hp are turbo petrols as well. All of them pair with the GAN GT, and so does the OPC with its 2.8 V6 Turbo. The naturally aspirated 1.6 with 115 hp and 1.8 with 140 hp are matched to the GAN GA+.
Bodies and years
The Insignia A was introduced in July 2008, and sales began in November 2008 with the saloon and the five-door hatchback. The Sports Tourer estate followed in March 2009, the OPC in summer 2009 and the raised Country Tourer in late 2013. The facelift came in June 2013, and the last car was built in April 2017.
The factory body code is G09, and the car sits on the GM Epsilon 2 platform. In Great Britain it is sold as the Vauxhall Insignia.

Tuning box or ECU remap for an Insignia diesel: what stays untouched?
An ECU remap rewrites the factory software in the engine control unit, which is a different method from a tuning box. The GAN module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals, so the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
