Peugeot 206 tuning: the typical car runs on petrol

Peugeot 206 tuning with a tuning box is mostly a petrol question. In Germany the 206 was the best-selling imported car from 2001 to 2004, and in Great Britain the 1.4 was a common choice. The 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines, from 60 to 110 hp, work with the GAN GA+. So do the 2.0 16V S16 and GTi with 135 and 136 hp and the RC with 177 hp.

The diesels use the GAN GT: the 1.4 HDi with 68 hp, the 2.0 HDi with 90 hp and the 1.6 HDi with 109 hp. In the UK the 206 RC was sold as the 206 GTi 180.

The catalogue shows 84 hp and 124 Nm with the GAN GA+, up from 75 hp and 111 Nm, within the line's limit of up to 12%. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

Tuning box or ECU remap for a Peugeot 206 HDi?

The 2.0 HDi with 90 hp and 205 Nm works with the GAN GT. An ECU remap rewrites the factory software, while the GAN tuning module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
