What makes the Peugeot RCZ special
Peugeot RCZ tuning: THP 200 or the RCZ R
The Peugeot RCZ has one petrol engine in three outputs: the 1.6 THP with 156 hp, with 200 hp and, in the RCZ R, with 270 hp. All three are the 1.6 Prince engine developed by PSA with BMW; the THP 200 and the RCZ R differ from the THP 156 in cylinder head and boost. In RCZ tuning, the output of your car decides the tuning box, not the name on the tailgate. The THP 156 makes 240 Nm from March 2010, and the THP 200 makes 275 Nm from June 2010. The RCZ R arrived in autumn 2013 with 270 hp and 330 Nm, a manual gearbox only, and a run of 3,054 cars.
Its top speed is 250 km/h, and 305 of the cars went to the United Kingdom. The catalogue lists the RCZ R at 271 hp. The THP 200 and the RCZ R have variable valve timing on both camshafts and variable valve lift. All three work with the GAN GT.
The diesel and the car itself
The diesel is the 2.0 HDi FAP with 163 hp, which made 320 Nm from 2010 and 340 Nm in a version from 2012. The RCZ is a 2+2 coupé based on the 308, built by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. The concept appeared in 2007, and the production car was shown at the Frankfurt show in 2009.
It reached German dealers on 24 April 2010, and the facelift followed in January 2013. Production ended in September 2015 after more than 67 thousand cars. The THP 156 came with a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.

How much more power does chip tuning give an RCZ THP 200?
With the GAN GT the 200 hp car reaches 234 hp and 355 Nm. The GAN GT line is rated at up to 30% more power; these are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
RCZ R tuning: how is the 270 hp car listed?
The RCZ R is listed separately from the THP 200, as the 1.6 THP 270 with the GAN GT.
Peugeot RCZ chiptuning: is the 2.0 HDi covered?
Yes: the 2.0 HDi with 163 hp and 340 Nm is covered by the GAN GT.
What to check on a THP before fitting a tuning box?
On the THP 156 and THP 200 built before 2011, a weak hydraulic tensioner lets the timing chain stretch, which shows as clicking and a loss of power; the workshop fix is a modified chain kit. On cars built before 2013 the high-pressure fuel pump can fail, with jerks under acceleration. A tuning module does not replace a worn part: have the chain kit and the fuel pump checked before fitting.
Tuning box or ECU remap for an RCZ THP?
An ECU remap writes new software into the engine control unit; a tuning box changes nothing there. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
