What makes the Renault Captur special
Renault Captur tuning: 0.9 TCe, TCe 120 and TCe 150 are three different engines
Three cylinders, 898 cc and 90 hp: this is the 0.9 TCe. Renault Captur tuning with a tuning box begins by telling the three petrol engines of the Captur I apart. The TCe 120 is a 1.2-litre four-cylinder (H5Ft), and the TCe 150 is a 1.3-litre engine (H5Ht) with 150 hp from 2018. In the catalogue the 1.2 TCe appears as the 1.2T eTHP, with the GAN GT.
A TCe 130 with 1.3 litres joined the range in 2018–2019. The diesels are the 1.5 dCi 90 with 90 hp and 220 Nm and the dCi 110 with 110 hp and 260 Nm from 2015. The Captur I (J87) reached the market in 2013, received a facelift in 2017 and was built until 2019.
Captur II from 2019
The Captur II followed in 2019 and received a facelift in 2024. Its petrol range runs from the 1.0 TCe with 91 hp or 100 hp to the 1.3 TCe with up to 160 hp. The 1.3 TCe 155 of 2020–2022 has 270 Nm, and the catalogue pairs that engine with the GAN GT. The Captur II diesel is the 1.5 Blue dCi with 115 hp, offered in 2020.
The 1.5 Blue dCi 115 has no entry of its own in the Captur catalogue: the same engine is listed as the dCi 115 of the Renault Mégane IV. The 1.0 TCe, the mild hybrids and the E-Tech hybrids are not in the catalogue. In the catalogue the Captur TCe and dCi engines all work with the GAN GT.

Renault Captur chiptuning: is the 0.9 TCe covered?
The 0.9 TCe has no entry of its own in the Captur catalogue: the same engine is listed as the 0.9T of the Smart ForFour. The 0.9 TCe and the TCe 120 are different engines, with three and four cylinders respectively, so what is listed for the 1.2 TCe does not apply to it.
Captur 1.5 dCi 90 or 110 hp: what does the GAN GT give?
The dCi 90 with 220 Nm reaches 117 hp and 280 Nm, and the dCi 110 with 260 Nm reaches 143 hp and 332 Nm. On a turbo diesel the GAN GT line is rated at up to 30% more power. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Tuning box or ECU remap for a Captur dCi?
The module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU, so the ECU receives adjusted signals. A remap rewrites the software, while the module leaves the factory software, the checksums and the flash counter as they are. Once you remove the module, no traces remain, because nothing is written to the ECU.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
