What makes the Suzuki Jimny special
Jimny tuning: 1.5 can mean two different engines
On a Suzuki Jimny, tuning with a tuning box starts with the badge, because 1.5 can mean two engines with nothing in common. The 1.5 DDiS is a Renault K9K diesel with 65 hp from April 2004 and 86 hp from December 2005, built by Santana in Spain as the JB53. The 1.5 petrol is the naturally aspirated K15B of the Jimny IV, with 102 hp and 130 Nm. In Europe it was sold from October 2018 as a passenger car until 2020, and later as a two-seat van.
The 86 hp diesel has an intercooler, which the 65 hp version lacks. They need different modules: the DDiS works with the GAN GT, the K15B with the GAN GA+.
The 1.3 changed three times
The naturally aspirated 1.3 comes in three versions: the G13BB with 80 hp and 104 Nm from October 1998 to December 2000. Then the M13A with 80 hp and 110 Nm from January 2001 to May 2005, and from June 2005 the M13A VVT with 85 to 86 hp. The rear-wheel-drive version, with a five-speed manual only, was offered only from 1998 to 2000. In the catalogue the 1.3 with 80 hp and the 1.3 with 85 hp both use the GAN GA+.
Generations and names
The third generation covers the JB33, JB43 and JB53 bodies, and the fourth generation is the JB74. The Jimny IV has one engine, the K15B, with ALLGRIP PRO four-wheel drive, a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, and three doors. The Jimny Sierra is the Japanese name for the versions wider than the kei car, with 1.3 or 1.5 litres. In English the car is simply the Suzuki Jimny.

How much more power does the GAN GT give the Jimny 1.5 DDiS?
The 86 hp version with 200 Nm reaches 112 hp and 260 Nm with the GAN GT in the catalogue; the 65 hp version with 160 Nm is listed as well. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Which module fits the Jimny 1.3 with 80, 82 or 85 hp?
The 1.3 is naturally aspirated and works with the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12% more power. The catalogue lists the 80 hp and 85 hp versions, so go by the year and the figures in your documents.
Does the module affect the automatic gearbox or ALLGRIP PRO?
The module does not reprogram the gearbox. The four-speed automatic is an option on the Jimny III and the Jimny IV, and ALLGRIP PRO is the name of the four-wheel drive system.
Tuning box or ECU remap for a Jimny?
An ECU remap rewrites the factory software, while the GAN tuning module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
