What makes the Suzuki Vitara special
Suzuki Vitara tuning: Vitara or Grand Vitara?
Suzuki called the European model Grand Vitara from 1998 to 2015, so Vitara tuning for those years means a Grand Vitara. The first Vitara ran from 1988 to 1998, Santana built it in Spain until 2005, and the current Vitara, the LY, has been sold since 2015. Suzuki Vitara tuning with a tuning box has to begin with the generation, because the catalogue mixes engines of the Grand Vitara JT and the LY.
The 1.9 DDiS with 129 hp and 300 Nm, for instance, belongs to the Grand Vitara JT, not to today's Vitara. The 1.9 HDI with 90 hp and the 2.0 HDI with 109 hp also belong to earlier cars, not the LY. The first Vitara had 1.6-litre petrol engines with 97 hp, a V6 with 136 hp from 1995 and a 1.9-litre turbo diesel with 88 hp from 1997.
The current Vitara
The LY started in 2015 with the 1.6 VVT, 120 hp and 156 Nm, and the 1.6 DDiS, 120 hp and 320 Nm. The Vitara S of 2015 had the 1.4 BoosterJet with 140 hp, and the LY comes with two-wheel drive or ALLGRIP four-wheel drive. In autumn 2018 both 1.6 engines went and the 1.0 BoosterJet arrived; from April 2020 the 1.4 BoosterJet came with a 48-volt mild hybrid. Since the first quarter of 2022 there has also been a full hybrid, the 1.5 Dualjet, which the catalogue lists at 116 hp of system output.
A second facelift followed in April 2024. The 1.4 BoosterJet, the 129 hp mild hybrid included, is listed on the Suzuki Vitara 2015 page. The 1.0 BoosterJet is not in the catalogue.

What does Suzuki Vitara chiptuning with the GAN GT give the 1.6 DDiS?
With the GAN GT the 1.6 DDiS goes from 120 hp and 320 Nm to 156 hp and 409 Nm. The diesel was sold from 2015 to 2018, when the BoosterJet range replaced it. The GAN GT, the line for turbo engines, is rated at up to 30% more power. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
The catalogue shows 117 or 118 hp for the 1.6 petrol: is it the same engine?
Yes, both are the 1.6 VVT, which Suzuki rates at 120 hp and 156 Nm; the catalogue gives 117 and 118 hp. Both versions work with the GAN GA+ and the GAN GA, rated at up to 12% more power.
What does the module work with on the 1.5 Hybrid of 2022?
The 1.5 Hybrid also works with the GAN GA+; the module acts on the petrol engine, not on the electric motor. The 116 hp in the catalogue is the system output of the full hybrid, while the petrol engine makes about 101 to 102 hp and 138 Nm. A 33 hp electric motor and a six-speed automated gearbox complete the system.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
