What makes the Toyota Celica special
Toyota Celica tuning: the 1.8 VVT-i and the T-Sport
For Toyota Celica tuning with a tuning box, the T23 is the place to start: the last generation, launched in November 1999. It came with a 1.8 VVT-i (1ZZ-FE) with 143 hp or, as the T-Sport, a 1.8 VVTL-i (2ZZ-GE) with 192 hp. Neither engine has a turbo or a supercharger, so the GAN GA+ is the module for both.
Each T23 version came with a six-speed manual gearbox. The earlier T20, built until 1999, had a 1.8 with 116 hp and a 2.0 3S-GE with 175 hp; these use the GAN GA+ as well.

What power does a tuned Celica T-Sport make?
The T-Sport goes from 192 hp and 180 Nm to 215 hp and 202 Nm, and the 1.8 VVT-i from 143 hp and 170 Nm to 160 hp and 190 Nm. On a naturally aspirated engine the GAN GA+ gives up to 12% more power; these are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Does Celica chip tuning cover the T20 2.0 3S-GE with 175 hp?
Yes, the 2.0 with 175 hp and 186 Nm works with the GAN GA+ and goes to 196 hp and 208 Nm. The 1.8 with 116 hp and 154 Nm goes to 130 hp and 172 Nm.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
