What makes the Toyota Land Cruiser special
Land Cruiser 200 tuning: one diesel in Europe
In Europe the Land Cruiser 200 has one engine: the 4.5 V8 D-4D (1VD-FTV, 4,461 cc) with two turbochargers, always paired with an automatic and four-wheel drive. In Germany and Britain the car is called the Land Cruiser V8; elsewhere it is the 200 Series. Production began in September 2007, and the diesel entered the German range in March 2008.
Land Cruiser V8 tuning with a tuning box therefore means one diesel, and the build date decides the output. Until March 2012 the engine made 286 hp and 650 Nm; after that date it made 272 hp. Sales in Europe ended in 2015, when the diesel did not meet Euro 6.

For chip tuning, the 286 hp engine goes to 335 hp and 761 Nm with a GAN GT, and the 272 hp engine to 343 hp and 790 Nm.

Land Cruiser V8: which version is mine, 286 hp or 272 hp?
A car built before April 2012 has the 286 hp engine, and a later one the 272 hp version. Both work with the GAN GT, the module for turbodiesels. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Does the module change the automatic gearbox of the Land Cruiser V8?
The module does not reprogram the gearbox. In Europe the J200 has a six-speed automatic.
Why does the 200 have no petrol V8 in the European range?
The petrol engines, among them a 4.0 V6, a 4.6 V8 and a 5.7 V8, went to other markets. In Europe the diesel stayed the only engine through both facelifts.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
