Chery Tiggo 7 tuning: is the 1.5 turbo the same engine across the Tiggo 4, 5, 7 and 8?
The Italian versions of the Tiggo 5, 7 and 8 all use the 1.5 turbo Acteco, with 150, 156 and 154 hp. The Tiggo 4-based DR 5.0 gets it from late 2020. It is a turbo petrol engine, so the GAN GT is the module for it. In the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 the GAN GT takes it from 147 hp and 210 Nm to 190 hp and 271 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Chery Tiggo 2 tuning: is there a module for the naturally aspirated 1.5 or 1.6?
Yes: the Tiggo 2 1.5 (106 hp) and the Tiggo 3 1.6 (126 hp) are naturally aspirated and work with the GAN GA+. The catalogue shows 119 hp and 151 Nm for the 1.5 and 141 hp and 179 Nm for the 1.6. The GAN GA+ is rated at up to 12% more power, so expect no more than that from your engine.
Are the DR, EVO, Sportequipe and Ebro cars the same Chery engines?
In Italy the DR, EVO and Sportequipe cars are Chery models with another badge, and in Spain the Ebro S400, S700 and S800 are built on Chery models. The Ebro S700 uses the 1.6T from December 2024, and the S400 is a hybrid with 211 hp.
Chery chip tuning with a tuning box or an ECU remap: what stays untouched?
Unlike an ECU remap, which rewrites the software of the control unit, the GAN module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software stays untouched, and when the module is removed it leaves no traces.
Does the GAN module affect my Chery warranty?
No. The module does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. We also give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or ECU remap: which should I choose?
An ECU remap permanently changes the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.

Chery tuning in Europe: engines under other badges
Chery cars have been on European roads since November 2007, often under another badge, so Chery tuning with a tuning box starts with the engine rather than the name on the grille. From November 2007 Chery imported and assembled cars in Italy together with DR Motor. The DR1 to DR7, EVO and Sportequipe models are Chery cars with a different badge. Chery itself entered Europe directly on 30 June 2025 in Poland, with the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 in petrol and plug-in hybrid form. Greece, the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary followed.
In the United Kingdom the Chery brand followed in summer 2025 with the Tiggo 8. Omoda and Jaecoo are separate European Chery brands from 2024, and they are not in the GAN catalogue.
One petrol family: Acteco
Acteco is the Chery family of petrol engines, developed with the Austrian company AVL. The naturally aspirated versions are 1.5, 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 litres, and in the Italian DR cars they make between 106 and 139 hp. The 1.5 turbo makes 150 to 158 hp depending on the car, and the 1.6T known as the 290T makes 200 hp.
The names 230T and 290T are trade indices of the turbo engines, and TGDI means a petrol turbo with direct injection. Plus, Pro and Pro Max are names of generations and versions, not of engines.

Engines by model
The first Tiggo (T11) was sold in Italy as the DR 5 from 16 November 2007 until June 2022, and more than twelve thousand were built. It started with a 1.6 of 109 hp. Later it had 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol engines with 118, 132 and 139 hp, plus a 1.9 Multijet diesel with 120 hp until 2011. The DR EVO with a 1.6 of 126 hp was offered as petrol and as bi-fuel LPG or methane. The Tiggo 2 was sold in Italy as the DR 3, with a naturally aspirated 1.5 of 106 hp.
The Tiggo 4 and 5x became the DR 5.0 with a naturally aspirated 1.5 Acteco of 116 hp and, from late 2020, a 1.5 turbo of 154 hp. The Tiggo 5 was the DR 6 with a 1.5 turbo of 150 hp. The Tiggo 7 was sold as the DR F35 and then the DR 6.0, and the Tiggo 8 as the DR 7.0, all at launch with a 1.5 turbo of 154 to 156 hp. Turbo engines such as the 1.5 turbo work with the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power, while the naturally aspirated ones get the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12%.
