What makes the Cupra Ateca special
Cupra Ateca tuning: one engine, listed twice
Until 2023 Cupra Ateca tuning means one engine: the 2.0 TSI EA888 with 300 hp and 400 Nm, four-wheel drive and a seven-speed DSG. The catalogue lists it twice, for cars built before and after November 2020, and both versions have the same GAN GT figures. The engine code is DNUE up to the 2020 facelift and DNFC after it.
Some 2021 and 2022 cars were recalled because a loose cover on top of the motor could touch the hot turbocharger (campaign 10H7). The 2.0 TSI with 190 hp, added in 2023, is not listed separately for the Cupra Ateca: you will find the same engine as the 2.0 TFSI of the SEAT Ateca. The 1.5 TSI with 150 hp is likewise covered under another model, as the 1.5 TSI of the VW T-Roc.

Cupra Ateca 2.0 TSI 300 tuning: what does the GAN GT add?
Both versions go from 300 hp and 400 Nm to 351 hp and 468 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car. The GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power for turbo engines like this one.
Cupra Ateca remap or a tuning box: what stays untouched?
An ECU remap rewrites the factory software, while the GAN module is a separate plug-in unit between the engine sensors and the ECU. The factory software stays untouched, and once the module is removed no traces remain.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
