What makes the Land Rover Range Rover special

Range Rover tuning: the body code decides the engine

The catalogue keeps the P38A, the L322 and the L405 under one name, so Range Rover tuning with a tuning box depends on the body code. The P38A of 1994 to 2002 is the second generation, with Rover petrol V8 engines and a BMW 2.5 TD diesel of 136 hp. The L322 of 2002 to 2012 had the BMW 3.0 Td6 with 177 hp until March 2006, then the 3.6 TDV8 with 272 hp. From July 2010 the 4.4 TDV8 with 313 hp took over.

The L322 petrol range runs from the 4.4 V8 with 286 hp and later 305 hp (listed at 306 hp in the catalogue) to the 4.2 V8 Supercharged with 396 hp. From August 2009 it also had a 5.0 V8 with 375 hp and a supercharged 5.0 with 510 hp. The L405 of 2012 to 2021 has the 3.0 TDV6 with 258 hp, the 3.0 SDV6 with 275 hp and the 4.4 SDV8 with 339 hp; the Ingenium D300 and D350 came later. Its petrol range has the 3.0 V6 Supercharged with 340 or 380 hp and the 5.0 V8 Supercharged with 510 to 565 hp.

Which GAN module fits which Range Rover

For Range Rover TDV6 tuning and for the V8 diesels the module is the GAN GT: the 3.0 Td6, 3.6 TDV8 and 4.4 TDV8 of the L322 and the 3.0 TDV6 and 4.4 SDV8 of the L405. The 3.0 and 5.0 supercharged engines also work with the GAN GT, while the catalogue pairs the 4.2 V8 Supercharged with the GAN GA+. The 4.4 V8 of 286 and 306 hp is naturally aspirated and uses the GAN GA+. The Range Rover Sport, with the codes L320 and L494, is a separate model in the catalogue.

The 4.4 TDV8 with 313 hp is listed at 700 Nm, and with the GAN GT at 366 hp and 819 Nm. The 3.6 TDV8 with 272 hp gains 71 hp and 140 Nm, and the 3.0 Td6 with 177 hp gains 37 hp and 82 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

Chiptuning Range Rover L405: what do the 3.0 TDV6 and the 4.4 SDV8 gain?

The 3.0 TDV6 with 258 hp gains 68 hp and 134 Nm, and the 4.4 SDV8 with 339 hp (listed at 340 hp) gains 58 hp and 119 Nm.

Range Rover Vogue V8 chip tuning: which module fits the supercharged V8?

In Britain and Europe the car is also known as the Range Rover Vogue; with the 5.0 V8 Supercharged a Vogue uses the GAN GT, while the 4.2 V8 Supercharged of 2005 to 2009 works with the GAN GA+. With the GAN GA+ the 4.2 Supercharged with 396 hp gains 32 hp and 44 Nm, and with the GAN GT the 5.0 Supercharged with 510 hp gains 74 hp and 85 Nm.

What does a GAN GA+ add to the Range Rover 4.4 V8?

The 286 hp BMW engine gains 23 hp and 35 Nm, and the 306 hp Jaguar engine gains 24 hp and 35 Nm. The GAN GA+ gives up to 12% more power, which is the limit for a naturally aspirated V8.

Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?

Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
