What makes the Opel Astra K special
Astra K tuning: two closely related diesels
Astra K tuning with a tuning box usually means one of two similar diesels: the 1.6 CDTI with 110 hp or the one with 136 hp. Both are turbodiesels of the same engine family, with 300 and 320 Nm, and both work with the GAN GT. Astra K 1.6 CDTI tuning also covers the version with 95 hp, built until June 2018.
The 1.6 Turbo with 200 hp is also matched to the GAN GT; the catalogue gives it 280 Nm. The naturally aspirated option, the 1.4 with 100 hp and 130 Nm, uses the GAN GA+.
What the catalogue does not cover
The 1.0 Turbo with 105 hp and the 1.4 Turbo with 125 and 150 hp are not in the catalogue. Both are common petrol versions of this generation. Almost all petrol Astra K engines have direct injection, while the naturally aspirated 1.4 has port injection.
Years and facelift
The Astra K was introduced at the IAA in September 2015, and sales began in October 2015 with the hatchback and the Sports Tourer. After the facelift of August 2019 the 1.6 CDTI and the earlier turbo engines were dropped.

In the catalogue this diesel goes from 136 hp and 320 Nm to 176 hp and 409 Nm with the GAN GT. The lower-rated 110 hp version picks up 33 hp. On turbocharged engines such as this one, the GAN GT is rated at up to 30% more power. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Are the Astra K 1.0 Turbo and 1.4 Turbo in the catalogue?
No: for this generation the catalogue covers the naturally aspirated 1.4, the 1.6 CDTI with 95, 105, 110 and 136 hp and the 1.6 Turbo with 200 hp.
What does a tuning box give the Astra K 1.4 with 100 hp?
This engine has no turbocharger, so the GAN GA+ gives up to 12% more power. The catalogue gain is 12 hp. In Great Britain the car is badged Vauxhall Astra Mk7.
Is a tuning module the same as a Stage 1 tune?
Not quite. Stage 1 usually means an ECU remap without replacing any parts. The tuning module also works without replacing parts, but it does not change the ECU software: it adjusts the sensor signals, comes off in about a minute, and the OFF button in the app restores the factory settings.
