Jeep Chip Tuning
Up to 30% more power for your Jeep
The Jeep catalogue lists 103 engines (models: 9, generations: 17). For 35% of the engines, there are the GAN GT (up to 30% more power) and GAN GTL (up to 25%) tuning modules; for 67 naturally aspirated engines, the GAN GA and GAN GA+ (up to 12%). Each engine’s figures are on its own page.
Jeep chip tuning without an ECU remap
The tuning module sits between the sensors and the engine control unit (ECU) and adjusts their signals. Your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

What Jeep owners say about GAN
The installation took about 15 minutes, it really works, although I really did not believe in it. The car runs much softer in different modes and revs on the highway was lower than usual and I suppose the fuel consumption is also less, but at this moment I have no measurements. I am very glad with this purchase. I…
Jeep chip tuning: questions
How much more power does a Grand Cherokee WK2 3.0 V6 CRD get from a tuning box?
The 250 hp version is rated at 570 Nm and reaches 317 hp and 700 Nm with the GAN GT. With 241 hp the catalogue gain is 65 hp and 111 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.
Jeep Wrangler tuning: which module fits the JK and the JL?
The Wrangler JK 2.8 CRD comes in two versions, both with the GAN GT: the 177 hp engine gains 50 hp and 107 Nm, the 200 hp engine 56 hp and 114 Nm. The Wrangler JL with the 2.0 turbo (270 hp in the catalogue) gains 30 hp and 60 Nm with the GAN GT, while the 3.6 V6 Pentastar works with the GAN GA+.
What do the Renegade and Compass diesels and petrol turbos gain?
The 2.0 MultiJet with 140 hp gains 41 hp and 95 Nm and the 170 hp version 48 hp and 97 Nm. The 1.4 MultiAir with 140 hp gains 41 hp and 69 Nm and the 170 hp version 48 hp and 75 Nm.
Chiptuning Jeep: tuning box or ECU remap on a diesel?
An ECU remap rewrites the factory software in the engine control unit (ECU). The GAN module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals, so the factory software, checksums and flash counter stay untouched. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.
Does the GAN module affect my Jeep warranty?
No. The module does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. We also give an engine warranty: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.
Tuning box or ECU remap: which should I choose?
An ECU remap permanently changes the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.
Jeep chip tuning: what to know about the engines
Jeep tuning: whose engine is under the bonnet
On a long climb a heavy Grand Cherokee wants torque, and its 3.0 V6 CRD diesel has 550 to 570 Nm of it, so Jeep tuning with a tuning box begins there. That diesel is a VM Motori engine, and it made 190 hp until 2013, 241 hp until 2017 and 250 hp afterwards. Jeep buys its European diesels from other makers. The Cherokee KJ and KK and the Wrangler JK use the VM Motori 2.5 and 2.8 CRD. The Grand Cherokee WJ from 2002, the WH and the Commander use Mercedes diesels, the 2.7 and 3.0 CRD.
The Grand Cherokee WJ had the 2.7 CRD with 163 hp until 2004, and the WH and the Commander have the 3.0 CRD with 218 hp and 510 Nm. The Renegade, Compass, Cherokee KL and Wrangler JL use the Fiat MultiJet in 1.6, 2.0 and 2.2 litres. The Renegade arrived in 2014 and the Compass II in July 2017; the first Compass had used a 2.0 CRD from Volkswagen and later a 2.2 CRD from Mercedes. EcoDiesel is only the American name of the 3.0 V6, which Europe knew as the 3.0 CRD or MultiJet.
Petrol Jeeps: Pentastar, Hemi and the 2.0 turbo
The 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 replaced the 3.8 in the Wrangler JK in January 2012. The Cherokee KL has the 3.2 V6 with 272 hp. That 3.8 V6 made 196 to 199 hp and stayed in the Wrangler JK until 2011. The Hemi is a Chrysler V8: the 5.7 with 326 to 360 hp sits in the Grand Cherokee WH and WK2 and the Commander, and the SRT has the 6.4 with 468 hp.
Since August 2018 the Wrangler JL has had the 2.0 turbo with 270 hp and the eTorque mild hybrid system. Its diesel, the 2.2 MultiJet with 200 hp and 450 Nm, was sold from August 2018 to December 2020. Sport, Limited, Trailhawk and Rubicon are trim levels, not engines, so ignore them when you look up your engine.

Which GAN module suits a Jeep engine
The module follows the engine type: the diesels and the 2.0 turbo work with the GAN GT, rated at up to 30% more power, while the naturally aspirated V6 and V8 engines get the GAN GA+, rated at up to 12%. For Jeep CRD tuning that means the GAN GT for the Grand Cherokee WK2 and Wrangler JK diesels. The Pentastar and Hemi petrol engines, such as the 3.6 V6 of the Grand Cherokee WK2 and the 5.7 V8, are matched with the GAN GA+. On the Renegade and Compass, Jeep chip tuning means the MultiJet and MultiAir engines, both served by the GAN GT.
Which Jeep models are in the catalogue
The catalogue lists 9 models from Jeep. The most engines are listed for the Grand Cherokee (30), Cherokee (19) and Wrangler (16). The biggest gain among the models is on the Grand Cherokee: up to +67 hp.
Naturally aspirated Jeep engines
For 67 naturally aspirated engines from Jeep, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
How to find your Jeep engine
Choose your model in the list above, then the generation by model year and chassis code, and the engine by the power output in your registration document. The engine page shows the exact gain and the tuning module price.
