Questions

Peugeot chip tuning: questions

Which GAN fits the 1.6 VTi 120 and the 1.6 THP 156, and how much more power does each get?

The naturally aspirated VTi takes the GAN GA+ and the THP takes the GAN GT. In the 207 the catalogue shows 134 hp and 179 Nm for the 1.6 VTi with 120 hp and 160 Nm. For the 1.6 THP with 156 hp and 240 Nm it shows 185 hp and 312 Nm. These are the stated gains for this engine type, not a dyno reading of your car.

Do the 1.6 HDi, the 2.0 HDi and the BlueHDi take the GAN GT?

Yes: the catalogue lists them as GAN GT rows, one for each power output. The 207, for example, has the 1.6 HDi with 90 and 110 hp.

Which module fits the 1.2 PureTech 110 and 130 and the 1.2 VTi 82?

The PureTech with 110 and 130 hp is a turbo and takes the GAN GT. The naturally aspirated 1.2 VTi with 82 hp takes the GAN GA+.

Peugeot chiptuning: tuning box or ECU remap for an HDi?

An ECU remap rewrites the factory software, while the GAN tuning module sits between the engine sensors and the ECU and adjusts their signals. The factory software, the checksums and the flash counter stay untouched, and the engine's factory protections remain active. Your manufacturer's warranty is preserved: the ECU software is never changed, and the module can be removed at any time.

Does the GAN module affect my Peugeot warranty?

No. The module does not change the ECU software and can be removed at any time, so your manufacturer’s warranty is preserved. We also give an engine warranty for cars registered in Germany: 2 years with the GAN GT, 1 year with the GAN GTL.

Tuning box or ECU remap: which should I choose?

An ECU remap permanently changes the maps in the ECU and leaves a trace in the flash counter. The GAN tuning module adjusts the sensor signals instead: the ECU stays in factory condition, and you can return the car to stock in about a minute.

About Peugeot engines

Peugeot chip tuning: what to know about the engines

Peugeot tuning: one 1.6 block, two kinds of engine

Peugeot tuning with a tuning box is best explained by one pair of engines: the 1.6 VTi with 120 hp and the 1.6 THP with 156 hp share a block, yet need different modules. Both belong to the Prince family, which Peugeot developed together with BMW and first fitted to the 207 in 2006. The VTi is naturally aspirated, with variable valve timing and lift; the THP has a turbo. The 1.2 repeats the split: the 1.2 PureTech with 110 and 130 hp is a turbo, and the 1.2 VTi with 82 hp is naturally aspirated.

A 1.4 VTi with 95 hp, the EP3, sits below the 1.6. The 1.6 VTi is coded EP6, and the THP adds letters to it, such as DT, DTS or FDTR. That is how the same 1.6 litres give 120 hp in one Peugeot and 250 hp in another.

Petrol engine families by code

Peugeot engine tuning starts from the code: a family name plus an index. TU covers the petrol 1.1 to 1.6, EW the 2.0, EP the Prince 1.4 and 1.6, and EB the three-cylinder PureTech. The TU engines were fitted to the 206, 306 and 307, and the EW to the 206, 307 and 407.

The three-cylinder PureTech with 1.0 and 1.2 litres is fitted to the 208, 308 and 2008. The THP comes in several codes, for example the EP6DT with 150 hp, the EP6CDT with 156 hp, the EP6DTS with 175 hp and the EP6FDTR with 250 and 270 hp. Turbo engines take the GAN GT, with up to 30% more power; the naturally aspirated VTi and TU engines take the GAN GA+, with up to 12%.

Diesels and sporty versions

The diesels are HDi engines: the DV family covers the 1.4 to 1.6 and the DW family the 2.0 and 2.2. The 1.6 and the 2.0 also came as BlueHDi from 2013. On the DW10 and DW12 the last letters name the variant, for example BTED4 or CTED4.

Peugeot's HDi and BlueHDi diesels are turbocharged, so they take the GAN GT. The sporty versions are the 206 RC with 177 hp, the 207 RC with 174 hp and the 308 GTi with 250 and 270 hp. The 308 GT has 205 hp as a 1.6 THP or 180 hp as a 2.0 BlueHDi. To find a row, start with the model number, 206, 307, 308 or 208, and then the engine code.

Which Peugeot models are in the catalogue

The catalogue lists 31 models from Peugeot. The most engines are listed for the 308 (57), 508 (25) and 208 (22). The biggest gain among the models is on the 407: up to +65 hp.

Naturally aspirated Peugeot engines

For 77 naturally aspirated engines from Peugeot, there is the GAN GA+: up to 12% more power and up to 15% lower fuel consumption in ECO mode. You can fit it yourself, in most cases in under 15 minutes.
